Iran President Visit in Sri Lanka


Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived Sri Lanka yesterday (28th April 2008) on a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Iran president will flag off an oil refinery at the Sapugaskanda Petroleum Complex on April 29th, as part of his state visit.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also due to attend the inauguration of the Uma Oya Multipurpose Irrigation Project which will cost Rs. 250 million.

He is the sixth and current President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad became president on August 6, 2005 after winning the 2005 presidential election by popular vote.
Tehran is the capital city of Iran.
Shi'a Islam is the official religion, and Persian is the official language
